Liquorice

Liquorice or 'Licorice' is the roots of Glycyrrhiza glabra. Liquorice plant is a kind of leguminous plant originating from Southern Europe and some parts of Asia. Liquorice name comes from ancient Greek meaning "sweet root." Liquorice including shaped herb and perennial plants can grow to three feet with leaves that grow like wings (pinnate), whose length is 7 to 15 cm. Its leaves can be numbered 9-17 strands in one branch. Flowers arranged in inflorescens liquorice (grouped in one branch), its color ranges from purplish to bluish white, and a length of 0.8 to 1.2 cm. Shaped liquorice fruit about 2-3 cm long, and contain seeds.
Production and use of
Liquorice roots grow like weeds (shrubs) in some parts of southern Europe (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Another species is called the American Licorice G. lepidopta who grew up in North American and Chinese Licorice (G.uralensis) that is widely used in Chinese medicine.
Liquorice roots grow well in soil that deep, fertile, enough water and in a climate full of sun light. Usually harvested in the fall of 2 or 3 years after planting.
Liquorice extract obtained by boiling the roots of plants and vaporize the water, can be sold in powder or syrup (liquid). Substance contained therein is glycyrrhizin, which is very sweet, 50 times sweeter than sugar and has efficacy of treatment. Species G.uralensis
The use of culinary
Liquorice taste is more varied when made in the form of candy. Confectionery products are very popular in England that is Liquorice allsorts (typical British candy licorice.) Consumers in mainland Europe is more like candy a little salty liquorice. Although most products it has turned out to contain liquorice taste terbanyaknya is anise oil.
In the Netherlands, liquorice sweets called "Drop" and the very popular community. Dutch liquorice confectionery products contain less content of sweet fennel mixture of materials used as well although other means such as menthol and bay leaf (bay leaf), thus creating a slightly salty taste.
Licorice is also used in the composition of soft drinks for example root beer and tea-herbal teas taste sweet. Sweet licorice flavor that is very useful to eliminate the odor-odor in medicine. Dutch people often make the licorice-flavored drink (dropwater) by placing several parts of licorice candy containing laurel (bay leaf) with a piece of licorice plant roots in a bottle filled with water and shake until frothy.
In Italy, which is also the place to grow natural licorice, people eat licorice with a direct pull from the ground and chewed as a mouth freshener. Italian citizens who do not like licorice sweetened so that 100% pure, but with a bitter taste. Syrians using licorice as beverages and candy. According to the Food Database United States Department of black licorice contains 100 calories per ounce (928 grams).
In Chinese cuisine, licorice is used as a spice in spicy food. Often also added to the broth and soy sauce mixture.
Biomedical Aspects
Content of active organic compounds in the form of liquorice glisiretinat acid is inhibiting the enzyme 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (11β-OHSD) type 2, which serves to change the hormone cortisol into cortisone hormone. Excessive consumption is considered to cause diuresis and further simtoma cause high blood pressure.

Motion plants

Movement in plants is an infiltration of the stimulus (stimulus) whether originating from inside or outside of the individual. So the emergence of movement in plants was evidence of irritability.
Based on the presence or absence of stimulation, movement in plants can be divided into:

Endonom motion is motion that is not influenced by external factors. An example is motion in the cell cytoplasm.

Etionom motion is motion that is influenced by stimuli from the outside. examples of stimuli from the outside is light, temperature, gravity, etc..

Higrokopis motion is motion caused by the decrease of water content on an ongoing basis, so that the seeds, fruit, or a crack sporangium
Motion EtionomNasty
Nasty parts of the plant is moving toward its motion was not influenced by the direction of the stimulus. Nasty motion caused by changes in bone tissue turgor in the leaf. Based on the type of stimulation, nasty divided into several types, such as below:

Seismonasti or tigmonasti a nasty motion that occurs due to a touch stimulus. An example is the motion to close leaves embarrassed daughter (Mimosa pudica) when touched.

Niktinasti the movement sleep legumes leaves late in the afternoon due to changes in turgor pressure on petiole.

Termonasti a nasty motion caused by temperature stimuli. Examples of tulips blooming when temperatures rise.

Fotonasti namely that nasty motion stimulation in the form of light source, such as flower blooming at four o'clock (Mirabilis jalapa)

Complex is a nasty nasty motion caused more than one stimulus. For example the motion to open and close the stomata.
Tropism
Tropism is a plant that the direction of motion is influenced by the direction of motion stimuli. Positive tropism is approaching its direction of motion stimuli, while negative tropism is the direction of motion away from the stimulus. Based on the type of stimulation, tropism can be divided into several kinds, such as below:

Geotropisme or gravitropisme a tropism motion stimulation caused the Earth's gravity. There are two geotropisme Geotropisme namely positive and negative geotropisme. Is positive Geotropisme plant organ motion in the direction of gravity, for example movement of plant roots. While the negative geotropisme is motion in the opposite direction of earth gravity, for example movement grow stem plant.

Fototropisme a tropism motion caused by the influence of light stimulation. Fototropisme is two fototropisme fototropisme positive and negative. In general, above-ground plant parts are fototropisme roots are positive and negative fototropisme

Tigmotropisme a tropism motion caused by touch stimuli. In general, occur in plants tigmotropisme climbers such as grapes, sweet potatoes, melons, and other climbing plants.

Hidroptropisme motion tropism is caused by stimulation of water. For example movement of root growth into the water.

Termotropisme a tropism motion caused by temperature stimuli.

Kemotropisme a tropism motion caused by chemical stimulation. Examples roots movement toward fertilizer.

Reotropisme motion tropism is caused by water flow and thus affects the direction of movement of plants. Examples of water hyacinth.
Taksis
Taksis is motion that occurs due to external stimuli. The entire plant body will move, and the direction of motion is determined by the direction of stimulation. Based on the type of stimulation, taksis divided into several types, such as below:

Fototaksis is taksis motion caused by light stimulation. eg Euglena motion towards the light. Fototaksis fototaksis divided into positive and negative fototaksis. Positive Fototaksis plant is motion near the light stimulus, whereas negative fototaksis plant is moving away from the stimulus of light.

Kemotaksis is taksis motion caused by chemical stimulation. For example spermatozoid cell movement toward the egg.

Galvanotaksis is taksis motion caused by electrical stimulation.
